G1.9Playground/Five CanyonsPlayground has a water fountain and restrooms. TURN LEFT onto Five Canyons as you leave the parking lot
H2.2Five Canyons/Shady Canyon TrailheadShady Canyon Trail intersects Five Canyons. TURN RIGHT, cross Five Canyons (be careful) and continue on the trail. Trail follows the back of some houses and then plunges downhill.
I2.6Shady Canyon T-IntersectionShady Canyon Trail turns right or straight. CONTINUE STRAIGHT.
J2.8Shady Canyon T-IntersectionTurn RIGHT onto Newt Pond Trail going up the hill (can't remember if it's labelled Newt Pond Trail here).
Newt Pond TrailPass through the cow-gate, continue straight at the first T intersection. The trail will end at a T
3.3Trail T-IntersectionAt the deadend T, turn LEFT
3.3Follow this trailSpectacular views of the Bay, continue on this trail (there are a couple of small trails that branch off to the left; stay right). Go through the cow-gate.
LWater Tower RoadThe course goes past water towers, and continues down an asphalt path. Be alert for the trail (Chabot to Garin) that goes to the right, past a footbridge.
M4.7Chabot Garin Trail/Five CanyonsThrough another cow-gate, continue until this trail ends at Five Canyons. CROSS FIVE CANYONS VERY CAREFULLY and pick up the trail on the other side. (Second pic is looking back at the trail from Five Canyons)
NChabot Garin Trail/Five CanyonsOnce on the other side, TURN RIGHT onto Five Canyons Parkway, and follow the markers.
OFive Canyons/ Asphalt Path to Rancho Palomares DrThere will be a trail marker indicating to TURN LEFT onto an asphalt path up to Rancho Palomares Dr.
4.9Small PlaygroundThe path takes us to a small playground with a working water fountain.
5.0Deer Canyon/Boulder Canyon intersectionThe trail crosses Boulder Canyon with a prominent trail entrance on the other side.
5.2Deer Canyon/Canyon Terrace intersectionThe trail crosses Canyon Terrace and continues on the other side.
5.3Deer Canyon/Shady Canyon intersectionDeer Canyon comes to a T-intersection after a small creek crossing. TURN RIGHT to continue on Deer Canyon
